Update on the Logs

For everyone who's been wondering, I haven't been posting because we've been busy getting our custom log home project underway. Who would have thought that an unincorporated area could still demand so much red tape!

You'll find a new photo album in the sidebar, which will fill over time with photos of our building project as it moves along. Check it out if you're nosy.

For all of you who were doing a sun dance for us on delivery day, Mother Nature pulled through! We had two lovely days of sunshine and mild temperatures, so we didn't have too much mud or sweat to contend with while we unloaded the trucks and conducted inventory. Let me tell ya', a pasty-faced computer geek and a bespectacled wordsmith trying to understand all those construction notations is a real trip. But our construction-familiar friends and family have been quite patient with us. Thanks, guys (and gals)!

The poor truck drivers had a bit of an adventure in getting our logs and other materials to our building site from the mill in Tennessee. One truck's cab caught on fire while in a traffic jam in Indianapolis! No one was injured, yadda yadda, but it resulted in a very long night for him. They drove another cab up from Tennessee and he hit the road again eight hours later, forcing him to contend with Chicago rush-hour traffic. We greeted him with plenty of coffee.

So that's it for now. More to come later.
