The Joys of Owning Wooded Land

Vines are evil.

We own wooded property, and we're clearing a portion of it in preparation for building our dream home. Some of the trees are covered in these freaking vines all the way to the top, and these are some pretty tall trees. One vine in particular -- a dead vine, by the way, hanging off a dead tree that the vine probably killed -- stood up to both my husband and me going all Tarzan on it at the same time. It's amazing how gratifying it was to see the chipper eat up those awful things.

Vermeer is my new best friend, but stay tuned. The weed whacker still holds a lot of promise...

Hey Jan, it's Kristin. Vermeer is a really weird name for a wood chipper. I hope it's a very artistic wood chipper.

Can't wait to read more. Should probably try this kind of thing.

LOL!! Did you ever actually see the backyard of the house in Des Plaines?? There were vines taking over everything around the perimeter! I don't know what Mark has done with it, but last summer we talked about just hiring someone to take care of it because it was soooo impossible to get rid of ourselves!
